<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - MERIDA, YUCATAN</image:title>
<image:caption>Curious Cats, Some places don’t just host milestones—they become part of your lineage. This issue is one of those for me. Mérida is where I was married this past December, and it’s a place I already know will hold our future: quiet returns with my husband, long weekends with family, reunions with friends who feel more like chosen kin. When we began searching for a wedding destination, we knew it had to be Mexico—a country that has shaped my work, my curiosity, and my sense of home. I wanted to invite our people not just into a celebration, but into our world. Mexico was the only answer. Of all its extraordinary corners, Mérida captured us with its gentle grandeur: colonial façades softened by time, courtyards breathing with bougainvillea and birdsong, cenotes hidden beneath limestone and lore. It also stirred something deeply familiar. In its layered cultures, reverent relationship to food, and creative pulse, Mérida reminded me of New Orleans, where I attended college—a place shaped by history, art, and the beauty of cultures colliding.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - MERIDA, YUCATAN - OUR GUIDE TO MERIDA</image:title>
<image:caption>While the wedding weekend carried us through many moments together, our hope was that each guest would also discover their Mérida. A city is never experienced the same way twice, and rather than overprogram every hour, we wanted to leave room for wandering, curiosity, and personal rhythm. This guide was created as a companion—an invitation to explore beyond the festivities and find what resonates. Often called La Ciudad Blanca, Mérida sits at the cultural heart of the Yucatán Peninsula, layered with histories that stretch far beyond its elegant colonial façades. Long before Spanish arrival, this region was a thriving center of Maya civilization, built atop ancient cities, cenotes, and sacred geometry that still quietly shape the land today. Founded in 1542 on the ruins of the Maya city of T’Hó, Mérida later flourished during the henequen boom of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when “green gold” transformed the city into one of the wealthiest in Mexico. Grand mansions rose along Paseo de Montejo, blending European influence with regional craftsmanship—an architectural legacy that continues to define the city’s stately elegance.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Just under an hour from Mérida, Chablé Yucatán is one of those rare places that immediately quiets you. Set within the restored grounds of an 18th-century henequen hacienda, the property is deeply rooted in the region’s agricultural and cultural history—once a working estate, now thoughtfully reimagined as a sanctuary for wellness, gastronomy, and slow living. Rather than erasing the past, Chablé builds upon it, allowing history, landscape, and design to coexist in deliberate harmony. There are no traditional hotel rooms here—only standalone villas, each tucked discreetly into the jungle and equipped with a private pool. It’s the kind of setup that makes leaving your villa feel optional: mornings begin with birdsong and filtered light, afternoons drift between pool, hammock, and shaded terrace. Despite the scale of the estate, the atmosphere feels intimate, almost secluded. Bikes are provided in every villa, encouraging unhurried exploration of the grounds—past ancient stone walls, leafy paths, and quiet corners that feel entirely your own.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Even within a compressed six-month wedding planning timeline, we made space for scouting trips—moments to slow down, recalibrate, and reconnect with places that felt essential. One destination we returned to again and again was Club de Patos, a nine-room boutique hotel tucked directly onto the shoreline of Sisal.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - MERIDA, YUCATAN - CHECKING IN X Catherwood</image:title>
<image:caption>As someone who has always loved hotels, it surprised me how easily I was swayed in another direction. Choosing a private estate for our wedding wasn’t an obvious choice for me—hotels are where I feel most at home—but when my dear friend Juan Carlos introduced us to Catherwood, everything shifted. Catherwood is a Mexico City–based family who fell in love with the quiet wonder of the Yucatán and slowly, thoughtfully built a portfolio of properties across the region. You can feel that intimacy in the way they operate. These are not “rental homes” in the conventional sense—they are places that feel lived in, respected, and deeply tied to their surroundings. Each property has its own soul, whether it’s a hacienda layered with history or a modern estate oriented around light, water, and land. And most importantly, all of these blend nature, art, and design in one. True works of art. Hacienda Cuzumal, where we ultimately hosted our wedding, felt like an extension of that philosophy. There was a calm to it, an elegance without pretense, and a sense that the property had been waiting patiently to hold something meaningful. Hosting our wedding there felt natural rather than staged—and I already know it’s a place I want to return to with Mitch, with our families, and one day with our future family. What struck me most about Catherwood was how easy everything felt. I’m often hesitant to recommend private homes because service can be inconsistent, but here, that concern simply disappeared. The teams on the ground were thoughtful, warm, and incredibly capable. Nothing felt forced or overproduced—just quietly well run. Each home is beautifully designed, but never at the expense of comfort or flow, and no two properties feel the same.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Chava Studio feels deeply intentional—rooted in craft, restraint, and process. How do you define your niche within fashion today? Thank you so much for saying that! That’s the hope. Chava really was created as a rebellion from what has felt like absolute commoditization of fashion in general. I wanted to create products that felt really special from the moment they arrived to you, that have been created with a lot of care. I also saw this white space in terms of tailoring—an experience men have been served forever but that hasn’t really focused on women. I wanted to offer all the amazing collar, cuff and interlining options men have, but with a women’s touch and with an eye for design. I always think about how women wear our clothes and that’s how we design our collections, considering what she might need to make her wardrobe feel exciting and emotional but also very functional. Your work often blurs the line between garment and object. How do form, texture, and construction guide your designs? These are definitely tent poles in our designs—form and texture being the result of the fabrics we use. We start our design process with our fabric buys, not the other way around. Once we have our fabrics, we start dreaming up our designs. Construction is obviously a huge part of our process, we are currently entirely made and cut to order so getting all those details right is inherently a focus for every single piece. I love the shapes our shirts make, especially the oversized ones, because the fabric drapes and hangs in such an interesting way depending on how someone wears the shirt.</image:caption>

<image:caption>You collaborate closely with artisans and small workshops. What does ethical, meaningful collaboration look like to you in practice? Calm, respectful dialogue with our producers, clarity around deadlines (and keeping those deadlines reasonable, I really try to keep our timelines as advanced as possible). Also confidently knowing that our partners have expertise—I ask questions, understand their process and often defer to their opinions as long as our goals are both clearly articulated. I think one of my core values in life is trying your best to put yourself in someone else’s shoes: Treat others as you would like to be treated is the way I strive to operate at Chava. Many of your pieces feel timeless rather than seasonal. How do you resist trend cycles while still evolving creatively? I think we try our best to meet the moment based on our own personal desires and needs without going too heavily into “trendy” territory. I am not especially trendy myself though I love to understand what is happening in fashion and am not immune to acclimating ideas if they feel right. I always run something through the Chava lens: Is it elegant? Is it feminine? Is it a little undone/sexy? These are the tenets we really build around. I also think if you use beautiful fabrics and turn to tailoring as far as technique is concerned, you are pretty immune to trends. The evolution of Chava mirrors me and the women who work with me, it mirrors our personal evolutions. So we are always asking ourselves: What’s speaking to us right now? What are we craving? It helps us really personalize the process.</image:caption>

The people in the cities you visit! I love seeing what people wear and understanding culture through this lens. Vintage markets are always a stop for me when traveling. <image:caption>FOR READERS DISCOVERING YOU FOR THE FIRST TIME, HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE WHO YOU ARE AND THE INTENTION BEHIND KIRAMEKI? I grew up in a generation of young people who have always been concerned about the future. Being Gen Z means being raised with technology and with constant awareness of climate change. Everyone I know, including myself, has felt a longing for a life rooted in community, tradition, meaning, and the ability to be offline. From a very young age, I knew I wanted to make a positive impact in the world. My upbringing shaped that desire deeply. I come from more than eighteen ethnic backgrounds. My mother immigrated from Myanmar. My father worked for the UNHCR, supporting refugees across Africa and many of the world’s most vulnerable regions. I was born and raised in Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, then spent my childhood in Australia, and eventually moved to the United States on my own. All of these experiences taught me to search for purpose and for ways I could contribute something meaningful to the world. Through my travels and my belief that life becomes meaningful through culture, community, and human connection, I created Kirameki to share a corner of the world that feels wholesome, peaceful, and pure. My intention is to bridge the world with rural Japan, and to remind people that joy and meaning often come from simple traditions, deep care, and a sense of belonging.</image:caption>

<image:caption>When you think about fulfillment in Japan, what does it look or feel like in your everyday life? Fulfillment shows up in the smallest things. It looks like the tomatoes I finally managed to grow in my garden. It is the feeling of learning every day from the hardworking people around me. Japan has an inherent spirit of doing your best, known as ganbare. Whether you are planting seeds or sweeping your front steps, there is pride in the effort. This attitude creates a sense of care and attention to detail everywhere you look. People are grateful for their surroundings and treat their environment with respect. That quiet devotion fills daily life with meaning. What cultural experiences or rituals in rural Japan have had the greatest impact on you? The experiences that have impacted me most are the festivals, sports events, and community gatherings I have joined. Watching children practice ancient martial arts, and then seeing grandparents cheering for them because they once did the same, showed me how tradition lives across generations. People participate not because they have to, but because they care about preserving their culture and supporting one another. That sense of connection influences the way I show up in my community and the way I try to contribute. Everyone encourages each other. Everyone belongs.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Conversations with Friends: KIRA BELLA - THE KIRAMEKI APPROACH</image:title>
<image:caption>Kirameki creates immersive stays, cultural workshops, and community-led experiences. What makes these encounters different from typical rural tourism? What makes Kirameki different is the intention behind every experience. I want people to truly engage with the world around them and learn about this area through culture, community, culinary experiences, and nature. These programs give context to the things Japan is known for, such as its long and healthy lives, its deep work ethic, and its attention to detail. Understanding the mythology and history of this region helps visitors appreciate why these values exist. Rather than simply doing activities, guests have opportunities to learn directly from the people who preserve these traditions. One example is the intergenerational woodcutter who built a beautiful accommodation to pass on the spirit of Japanese forestry. He is the last in his family carrying on this craft, and he wants to share it with the world. Kirameki experiences are not passive. They are designed to help people learn, connect, and walk away with something that can make their life richer and maybe even make the world better.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I grew up in San Francisco, spent time in New York with Balenciaga and Ralph Lauren, and lived in Los Angeles before finding my heart in New Orleans. This city holds a pulse that just moves differently. It’s soulful, alive, and beautifully unpredictable—like time itself bends here. There’s magic in the air. MORNING RITUAL: Coffee (and sippy cups) on the porch with my three kids, watching the cardinals at the bird feeder. It’s our little moment of stillness before the day begins. FAVORITE SPOT: The Chime Tree in City Park. The sound, the wind, the stillness—it feels like a little portal.</image:caption>

New Orleans invites you to slow down, to be fully in it—to savor life as it is. FAVORITE RESTAURANTS: N7 — Hidden, romantic, and somehow untouched. San Lorenzo — A modern nod to classic Italian dining. FOR A DRINK: Tell Me Bar or Fives — both low-lit, moody, and a little bit Paris.</image:caption>

IF NEW ORLEANS HAD A TEXTURE OR SCENT: Soft velvet soaked in magnolia, with candle wax and the sound of a saxophone melting into the night. My life has unfolded across seven capitals, each one leaving a mark on my rhythm. Napoli and Rome taught me intensity and passion; Paris gave me refinement; Dubai revealed ambition; Mykonos carried me into freedom; Barcelona awakened creativity; and for the past five years, Mexico City has become my grounding pulse. CURRENT LOCATION: Mexico City WHAT DO YOU DO? I founded extra silky, a creative studio rooted in Mexico yet serving worldwide. We specialize in rebrands, communication strategy, and PR—crafting identities that feel alive, soulful, and impossible to ignore. It’s not just about brands; it’s about transformation. <image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Conversations with Friends: Pan Dimovski - CITY NOTES</image:title>
<image:caption>Mexico City is my home—a city that is vibrant, diverse, colorful, and alive in its imperfections. It’s noisy and chaotic, yet deeply modern; a place where history and contemporary culture coexist in every corner. For someone who has never been, I’d describe it as a living organism: full of rhythm, contradictions, and soul. What has made Mexico City truly meaningful to me is the community. Beyond its museums, restaurants, and endless nightlife, it’s the people who ground me here—the humans with whom I’ve built friendships, collaborations, and moments that continue to shape my life. There’s also a sense of flow in daily living: whether I’m biking through Roma, catching an Uber, or walking to discover a new café, movement here feels natural and effortless. If I had to capture its essence in three words, they would be: connected, diverse, exciting. Connected because the city has an invisible network that keeps you plugged into ideas, art, and energy. Diverse because it’s layered with cultures, perspectives, and possibilities. Exciting because it never stops evolving—it keeps you on your toes. The best time to visit? It depends on what you’re seeking. From December to March, the city is buzzing with high season energy—social calendars are full, parties unfold, and it’s easy to feel swept into the scene. Yet the rainy season, starting in June, has its own charm—slower, more contemplative, perfect for productivity and introspection. The truth is, Mexico City’s mild weather makes it inviting year-round. For a dream weekend, I’d check into Hotel Volga—a place that mirrors the city’s sophistication while staying intimate. And if the soul craves an escape, I’d drive out with friends to Cuixmala, my favorite retreat just beyond the city, where stillness and play balance each other.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Conversations with Friends: Pan Dimovski - RHYTHM & RITUAL</image:title>
<image:caption>My mornings always begin close to home. I live in the heart of the city, so the first sip of the day is usually at a little café on my street Tilia cafe — they serve a deep, Brazilian roast that wakes me up fast when I’m ready to move. Other days, mornings start slower, with a tea ceremony alongside my best friend Cat. She pours with intention, and the ritual softens everything, reminding me that presence is power. Movement is my other anchor. Sometimes I run the loop of Amsterdam, sometimes I box with my trainer in Parque México, and often I join the Abnormal community for their open-air workouts. Each version feels different, but each gives me rhythm. By midday, I like to reset. Koti Wellness has become my sanctuary — hot sauna, cold plunge, a cycle of release and renewal. If I want something lighter, I’ll slip into the pool at Soho House, or share oysters and conversation at La Docena. Evenings depend on mood and occasion. With my partner Lorenzo, we lean toward contemporary cuisine — Rufus on Álvaro Obregón is a favorite, or Canton Mexicali when we crave his comfort-food Asian classics. Fridays and Saturdays might take us to Voraz, or further out of the bubble to Pink Rambo in Santa María la Ribera, a neighborhood on the rise. With friends, weekends often mean Contramar or Ultramarinos — places that feel like tradition.</image:caption>

<image:caption>A SPACE THAT INSPIRES YOU WITH ITS DESIGN? I find myself drawn to spaces that hold both intimacy and architectural surprise. La Valise in Roma, just steps from my home, is one of those gems—quietly elegant, layered with charm. On the other side of the city, Ignacia also in la Roma, a design that fuses the past and the present of CDMX. And in Centro, right next to the Zócalo, El Circulo Mexicano—a restored colonial space reimagined with contemporary textures—remains a favorite, a dialogue between past and present. For something more underground, Malacrianza in Doctores is a cultural hub where tattoos, hair, and style live under one roof. And then there’s Bomboti in Polanco, which I love for being a one-stop archive of Mexico’s most exciting designers. A FAVORITE STORE, BOUTIQUE, OR CONCEPT SPACE? One name I hold close is my friend Salvador’s brand, Lordagsondag—a project with authenticity at its core, blending raw creativity with Mexican design precision. It’s a name the world deserves to know, a brand that carries Mexico’s edge and elegance in equal measure.</image:caption>

<image:caption>MOST ICONIC LOCAL FLAVOR: Maizajo in Condesa. A humble spot, but pure in its devotion to local cuisine. Honest, unpretentious, and deeply rooted in Mexican tradition. BEST VIEW IN THE CITY: Though I’m afraid of heights, I once went to the top of the Sofitel tower. Simple setting, but the view of Mexico City from there—it’s infinite, overwhelming, unforgettable. A PIECE OF DESIGN, FASHION, OR FURNITURE THAT REFLECTS THE AESTHETIC OF THE CITY: For fashion, EGR. For art, Kurimanzutto gallery. For edgier design, Sanchez-Kane. And for more art, the clean yet daring curation of Lago Algo. Together, they reflect the city’s aesthetic: bold, layered, and endlessly inventive.</image:caption>

<image:caption>NAME: Lindsey Calla WHERE HAVE YOU SPENT MEANINGFUL TIME? Well, thanks to my Sagittarius rising I tend to love to explore and move about the world. The most impactful time recently has been in the high desert of northern New Mexico where I found myself rooting a bit before the pandemic. Like a magnet, I became drawn to the open sky, pigmented canyons, and the lore of great intrepid artistic women who forged their way into the unknown—all searching for something different and enchanting. CURRENT LOCATION: Hydra, Greece WHAT DO YOU DO? I am a multi-disciplinary artist working frequently in an abstract photographic medium and installation with a focus on the harmony and resonance of nature. My Earth Auras work was conceptualized in Santa Fe during a time of quiet change and revelation where I fell in love with the colored rock strata of the eroded mountains that make up the landscape. OUTSIDE OF WORK, WHAT SPARKS YOUR CURIOSITY? I like to write letters in Textura Quadrata calligraphy and explore ancient ruins while reading as many old books as I can get my hands on!</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Conversations with Friends: Lindsey Calla - CITY NOTES</image:title>
<image:caption>HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR CITY TO SOMEONE WHO’S NEVER BEEN? Santa Fe is earthy and crystalline, with a mighty amount of art for a small city. It’s like the book Women Who Run With The Wolves—full of feminine energy, filled with women who run wild with reckless artistic abandon under the moonlight in the quietude of the desert but it is also very sophisticated and intelligent, like a great dinner party full of interesting conversation and ideas. WHAT MAKES IT FEEL MEANINGFUL TO YOU, EITHER NOW OR OVER TIME? I have a fondness for Santa Fe because it is there that I fully formed. The desert has a way of stripping the unnecessary, and the elevation of the town breeds a feeling of incubation and I felt like a butterfly going inside inside and examining my true purpose. It was here that I found the courage to become an artist. WHEN IS THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR TO VISIT, AND WHY? I personally love June and September. June is full of endless light and my favorite russian olive tree blooms filling the air with sweet floral fragrance. In September, you get crispy air with the smell of chilis roasting, there is an abundance of local produce at the farmers market and sometimes if you’re lucky you can run a fire at night. WHERE WOULD YOU STAY FOR A DREAM WEEKEND? I absolutely love the Inn of the Five Graces. I spent a glorious week there in the beginning of my Santa Fe journey and it has really stuck with me. It has a lot of soul, the property is seen and felt through the lens of the owners who have a great eye for design, even working personally on the beautiful mosaics and there’s an artistry that complements the city very well.</image:caption>

<image:caption>FAVORITE PLACE FOR A MIDDAY BREAK? There is always time for Kakawa Chocolate House and the city has a few different locations and I’m not embarrassed to admit I call them all and see the flavors of the day and make my location decision based on the offering. I’m usually looking for the Marie Antoinette, her personal recipe of orange blossom with chocolate. I’m also a big fan of a midday soak at Ten Thousand Waves because creatively I tend to lose momentum in those hours so finding a place where the cell service is cut to enjoy nature with a notebook is always helpful. A FOOD SPOT YOU ALMOST HESITATE TO SHARE? The best green chile cheeseburger in my opinion is at Cafe Fina, it’s more a local spot for those who live south of town but worth a stop.</image:caption>

On the property of Bishop’s Lodge (now an Auberge hotel) there is a tiny chapel and former retreat of Bishop Lamy—I have had a few installations of my artwork in that space because the energy and design moved me so much. You can visit the chapel and feel the spiritual essence of the city baked into the earthen adobe walls there. A FAVORITE STORE, BOUTIQUE, OR CONCEPT SPACE? <image:caption>NAME: Samantha Willis WHERE HAVE YOU SPENT MEANINGFUL TIME? I grew up in Australia, started a business in Sydney, and later moved to New York City. After a decade in NYC—and in the wake of the pandemic—my partner and I put everything in storage to spend extended time living in different parts of the world. We began with six months in Mexico City, followed by Buenos Aires, and then spent twelve months in Bali. We’re now in Spain, soaking up the European summer. CURRENT LOCATION: Currently in Spain! WHAT DO YOU DO? I’m a writer & creative director. OUTSIDE OF WORK, WHAT SPARKS YOUR CURIOSITY? I’m a lifelong creative, so I’m always drawn to trying new things that don’t need to be anything—no outcome, no commercial purpose, just for the sake of making. I read constantly (currently How to Lose Your Mother by Molly Jong-Fast), and I love watching British true crime series. I find joy in restyling rooms—moving furniture, shifting objects, seeing how a space feels when you change its rhythm. And swimming. Always swimming. Being in water makes everything quieter.</image:caption>

<image:caption>HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR CITY TO SOMEONE WHO’S NEVER BEEN? My favorite Bali exists just outside the tourist centers. Take Canggu, for example—it’s vibrant, filled with incredible food, fun energy, and great people-watching. But just beyond it are places like Pererenan, where you can still access all the action but come home to quiet. That’s the magic of Bali: it offers both. One day, you’re at a waterfall temple being blessed by holy water, the next, you’re at a sleek rooftop sipping cocktails at sunset. It holds sacred ceremony and creative chaos in equal measure, and you can choose your pace depending on what you need. That’s what makes it feel so special—it gives you exactly what you came for, even if you didn’t know what that was yet. WHAT MAKES IT FEEL MEANINGFUL TO YOU, EITHER NOW OR OVER TIME? Bali has always held a certain rhythm that feels like an exhale. The people have the calmest, kindest energy—it’s not performative, it’s just how they move through the world. The days are slower here. Softer. Growing up in Australia, Bali was only a short flight away, so it often became the go-to for a tropical reset during winter. Over time, it started to feel like a second home. But it wasn’t until I came here to live for a year that I understood its deeper pull. It became a place of creative recovery for me. A place to be, to conceive, to write.</image:caption>

<image:caption>FAVORITE PLACE FOR A MIDDAY BREAK? I use swimming as a pause or punctuation mark in my day—especially when switching between tasks or creative projects. Sometimes I’ll even prop my laptop on the edge of the pool and work from there. For a manicure, House of Orange is incredible (book ahead), and if you’re after a massage, AMO Spa is a must—ask for Pippin. FAVORITE PLACE TO DINE? Bar Vera in Pererenan is my fave. I also love Red Gunpowder if you want delicious Indian. A FOOD SPOT YOU ALMOST HESITATE TO SHARE? If you’re heading down to Uluwatu, Tsune is an absolute standout. It’s a newer Japanese spot, but honestly, one of the best meals I’ve had on the island—fresh, refined, and seriously delicious. Definitely worth seeking out.</image:caption>

<image:caption>A SPACE THAT INSPIRES YOU WITH ITS DESIGN? Themediumdesign.com is a great gallery/store to visit. Beautiful pieces and always stunning art. WHERE DO YOU GO WHEN YOU NEED CREATIVE FUEL? I know you mean creative food, but I’m going to say SLAB Chocolate! Not only because the chocolate is next-level—but because the space feels like a hidden atelier in Tokyo. Quiet. Intentional. Obsessive in the best way. A FAVORITE STORE, BOUTIQUE, OR CONCEPT SPACE? Flook (The Label). Mediterranean minimalism meets island ease. Ethically made pieces, soft natural palettes, and a beautifully curated retail space. IF YOUR CITY HAD A TEXTURE OR SCENT, HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE IT? I love creating a scent for each place I spend time in—something to anchor the memory. While living in Bali, I made a custom fragrance at Our Projects with fresh rain notes and soft floral undertones. I did it during the wet season, when the island smelled like warm earth, temple smoke, and monsoon storms. Now, every time I wear it, I’m right back there.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Conversations with Friends: Molly Berry - CITY NOTES</image:title>
<image:caption>HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR CITY TO SOMEONE WHO’S NEVER BEEN? Antigua is a colorful little town nestled in a lush valley surrounded by three majestic volcanoes. The cobblestone streets are lined with 400-year-old ruins, colonial facades, bursts of bougainvillea, and some of the best coffee you’ll ever have. It’s a town that hums with history and also feels alive with creative energy—where artists, locals, and visitors mingle in passing, at rooftop bars, art workshops, and cozy cafés. I always say that Antigua may be small, but it stays with you long after you leave. WHAT MAKES IT FEEL MEANINGFUL TO YOU, EITHER NOW OR OVER TIME? My husband is half Guatemalan and spent much of his life growing up here, so as a family, we do have meaningful roots. But when we moved here together, we really grew into it and made it home. Antigua is where my daughter was born, where we built our home, and where Luna Zorro came to life. After four years in Panama—and having my first child, Joaquin, there—we moved to Antigua with the dream of building something more rooted, creative, and slow. There’s a rhythm here that makes everyday life feel special—from the sound of church bells to the kindness of strangers and the beauty of market life. Antigua has shaped my family’s day-to-day world in a way that feels grounding.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Conversations with Friends: Molly Berry - RHYTHM & RITUAL</image:title>
<image:caption>HOW DO YOU START YOUR MORNINGS? Most mornings begin with waking up to the birds. We live next to a coffee farm, so my morning alarm is truly a chorus of birds outside our window. If I’m lucky and there’s enough time, once I’ve put the coffee on, I’ll take a swim in our (very cold!) pool—which really is the best way to start the day. After dropping off my kids at school, I try to fit in a yoga class at Shakti Shala or pilates at Intensity Pilates. Before heading to my studio, I’ll walk for (another!) coffee at one of my favorites—Artista de Café or Alegría Café. I often stop at Caoba Farms for produce and fresh bread, drop things at home, and then head to my studio on the other side of town, located on a 150-year-old coffee farm. By 3 p.m., I’m picking up my kids, and we’ll go for ice cream at Sobremesa or head home to start homework and dinner. I cook nearly every night—it’s my time to wind down and be present with my family.</image:caption>

<image:caption>A SPACE THAT INSPIRES YOU WITH ITS DESIGN? Luna Zorro Studio, hands down. It’s all glass, full of light, surrounded by native flora and birdsong. It brings together traditional Guatemalan craftsmanship with clean, modern design. We share the space with brands like Nada Duele, host natural dye workshops, showcase artisan collections, and welcome travelers and artists alike. It’s a true creative haven. WHERE DO YOU GO WHEN YOU NEED CREATIVE FUEL? In Antigua, I find inspiration walking through the Mercado, watching the buzz of daily life unfold. Guatemalans are incredibly kind, and it’s easy to feel welcomed into the rhythm of market days, when fruits, veggies, and flowers are brought in from around the valley. The colors alone are something to marvel at—robust produce laid out in piles, women in intricate handwoven traje selling bundles of lilies and birds of paradise, the sounds of tortillas being made by hand, and vendors singing out their daily offerings. Creativity here comes from the land, the light, and the way people move through it all in such an authentic way.</image:caption>

<image:caption>NAME: Rhyme Goldstar (middle name from my Christmas birthday) CURRENT LOCATION: Tokyo, Japan WHERE HAVE YOU SPENT MEANINGFUL TIME? I was born in Australia, but have spent my whole life in Asia - starting in China, Indonesia, and finally, Japan. I bought myself a passport at a ripe young age, and have been traveling ever since. WHAT DO YOU DO? I am a music creator, stage performer, pioneer in places of poetry. Naturally, I have become a special agent for those who want to explore Japan as uniquely as I have. OUTSIDE OF WORK, WHAT SPARKS YOUR CURIOSITY? I love rollercoasters. I read a lot of books on the human spirit, coaching mentalities, and, of course, the color purple.</image:caption>

<image:caption>HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR CITY TO SOMEONE WHO’S NEVER BEEN? My city invites you to wander down dark, uncertain alleys and lose yourself—because it’s in the void that you’re meant to be. This place will find you, but if you need a tether, just call my name. WHAT MAKES IT FEEL MEANINGFUL TO YOU, EITHER NOW OR OVER TIME? Time is the greatest Rhyme I ever learned and if you truly want to master the neon, time will make everything more meaningful. WHAT THREE WORDS CAPTURE ITS ESSENCE? Magnetism, speed, details. WHEN IS THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR TO VISIT, AND WHY? I think May. It’s warm enough, least amount of rain (what can I say I am a 晴れ女) and the spring produces the best vegetables.</image:caption>

A FAVORITE PLACE FOR A MID-DAY BREAK—COFFEE, LUNCH, OR SOMETHING SLOWER? The Nuts Exchange. Pro-tip: Japan and veganism are still far from friends but it is a wave catching on. I truly believe the scene is way too soy and dairy inundated. Being Australian and a coffee snob, I was used to a good cup with homemade nut milk. But, Tokyo didn’t understand me. I envisioned a space that would welcome the coffee conscious, the purists and the hungover, locals and travelers alike—and just like that, The Nuts Exchange was born. We’re a zero-waste restaurant with a 100% down-to-earth ethos. Each day, we produce homemade Macadamia nut milk and you can enjoy Toriba coffee, egg McMuffins (vegan patty, yuba, & pumpkin paste), and lots of cookie goodness. <image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Our Journey Through The Italian Countryside - BORGO PIGNANO</image:title>
<image:caption>Our journey began in Pisa, where rolling vineyards spill toward the horizon and stone villages perch like quiet sentinels over the hills. From there, we meandered south into the heart of Tuscany—the land of cypress-lined roads and golden villas. Our first stop was Borgo Pignano, a beautifully restored 18th-century estate that feels part artful retreat, part working farm. We stayed in the Suite San Bartolomeo in La Canonica—a spacious two-bedroom apartment whose sweeping views made lingering over morning coffee irresistible. Inside, elegance met warmth in perfect balance: stone walls with refurbished hand-painted drawings and antique beams softened by light-filled rooms and thoughtful pops of color. And the ultimate bathtub to overlook it all. Evenings unfolded with aperitivo in the courtyard as the sun melted into the hills; mornings began to the chorus of birdsong as we painstakingly debated what to try from the generous breakfast spread. Borgo Pignano is the kind of place you settle into, not just pass through—a dream base for a countryside wedding or an escape with family and friends. With activities from beekeeping to soap-making, it’s a haven for embracing slow living at its most refined.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Our Journey Through The Italian Countryside - SIENA</image:title>
<image:caption>From there, we spent a day in Siena—an ochre-hued jewel tucked into the Tuscan hills, and a place one of my most well-traveled friends swears is his favorite. We arrived just before the build-up to the famed Palio di Siena, the centuries-old bareback horse race that transforms the city into a stage for neighborhood pride and rivalry. Each contrada, or district, pours its soul into the festivities, lining the medieval streets with colorful flags, hosting communal dinners under the stars, and filling the air with chants, drums, and song. Even outside of the Palio, Siena radiates a timeless charm, from the striped marble Duomo to tucked-away cafés and artisanal shops. The city feels like a living museum—intimate, enchanting, and impossible not to fall in love with.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Our Journey Through The Italian Countryside - MONTEVERDI</image:title>
<image:caption>We then headed deep into the mountains of Tuscany to Monteverdi. Getting there was half the adventure—no Google Maps pin, just hand-written directions that led us down winding lanes and a long dirt road. But as soon as we arrived, it was clear it was worth every turn. Monteverdi isn’t just a hotel—it’s a whole village, lovingly restored and overlooking the Val d’Orcia. Think cobbled medieval streets lined with contemporary art galleries, an ancient stone church, and courtyards filled with wildflowers swaying in the breeze. Every detail felt intentional, from the in-house florist who fills the rooms with whimsical arrangements to the serene pool that seemed to dissolve into the Tuscan hills. The interiors struck that rare balance of old-world soul and modern design. Our room was washed in a cheerful turquoise, warmed with wood beams and antique touches, yet layered with contemporary artwork and sleek textiles. The bed—massive, cloudlike, and piled high with linens—was impossible to leave. Each window framed the hills as though they were living paintings. And then there was the spa—an immersive sanctuary carved into stone, with thermal baths, hammam rituals, and treatments that blended modern skincare with centuries-old traditions. Time seemed to slow here, as if Monteverdi had its own rhythm. The food and wine only heightened the magic. We began with cocktails on the veranda as the sun spilled across the hills, then moved to their hillside trattoria, where rustic Tuscan flavors were reimagined with refinement and paired with a thoughtful selection of local wines. Each glass felt like a tribute to the land itself. From start to finish, Monteverdi was less a stay than a love affair—an experience that lingers long after you leave. I don’t say this often, but it has earned a place among my absolute favorites.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Our Journey Through The Italian Countryside - RESCHIO</image:title>
<image:caption>Tucked between Tuscany and Le Marche, Umbria is often called Italy’s “green heart”—a land of misty valleys, medieval hill towns, and rolling vineyards that feel untouched by time. Unlike its more famous neighbor, Umbria is quieter, wilder, and deeply soulful; a place where daily life still moves to the rhythms of the land. It’s here, amid this serene backdrop, that you’ll find Reschio, a castle estate that captures everything magical about Umbria while elevating it into an art form. Reschio doesn’t feel like a hotel; it feels like a home you dream of owning. Every detail has been thought through with precision and warmth, creating a world that is about pure intentionality. From a whimsical welcome drink served among flowers and riding boots to staff in custom Italian uniforms, every gesture felt considered.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Arizona - PHOENIX</image:title>
<image:caption>Having grown up in Phoenix, I’ve witnessed its transformation firsthand. Although I now mostly return for holidays, it remains an ever-evolving city that blends new ambitions with its desert soul. It has become a sprawling metropolis, sometimes unfamiliar, but still full of nostalgic charm and breathtaking beauty. Despite the changes, my favorite gems remain—an oasis surrounded by mountains, culture, and color. No visit to Phoenix is complete without a hike. If you're feeling bold, take onCamelback Mountain via Echo Canyon or Cholla Trail—challenging climbs with rewarding summit views. For something gentler, Piestewa Peak or South Mountain offer stunning desert vistas. For a more curated immersion into the Sonoran Desert, Desert Botanical Garden is unmissable—especially during the holidays, when luminarias (candlelit lanterns) transform the gardens into something magical. To get a sense of the city, I suggest a day downtown and another in Old Town Scottsdale. Downtown Phoenix blends mid-century architecture with a budding food scene and innovative arts, while Scottsdale gives you a peek into Western heritage through galleries, boutique shopping, and adobe charm. If time allows, stay at least three days to soak it all in. Architecture lovers will want to follow the trail of Frank Lloyd Wright through Arizona. Begin with a tour of his winter home, Taliesin West, and make a stop at the Arizona Biltmore, known as the "Jewel of the Desert" for good reason. For an even more romantic escape, don't miss Royal Palms Resort and Spa, a Mediterranean-style hideaway nestled at the base of Camelback Mountain—ideal for a drink on the terrace or a couples' retreat.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Arizona - CASTLE HOT SPRINGS HOTEL</image:title>
<image:caption>While Arizona has no shortage of beautiful hotels, Castle Hot Springs stands apart as a personal favorite—a true sanctuary less than 1.5 hours from Phoenix, yet a world away. After winding your way up a rugged dirt road, you arrive in a hidden valley where rows of palms sway beside steaming geothermal springs, nestled in the heart of the Sonoran Desert. This is a place that feels both timeless and transportive. Once a retreat for titans of industry and U.S. presidents, Castle Hot Springs channels the spirit of old-school Arizona while embracing modern wellness with grace. The farm-to-table culinary program is exceptional, and the daily schedule of experiences—archery, guided hikes, bath salt making, sound healing—offers just the right amount of structure for those seeking renewal. Their spa director is something of a legend—known for helping even the most restless minds find stillness. To fully absorb the magic, plan to spend at least two to three days here. It’s enough time to slow your pace, soak in the mineral-rich hot springs, and settle into the rhythms of the land. The natural thermal baths vary in temperature and setting, allowing you to rotate between pools as your body calls for it—each soak is more grounding than the last. Accommodations are understated luxury at its finest—standalone casitas with private outdoor tubs, individual stargazing telescopes, personalized water bottles, and thoughtful touches throughout. It’s the kind of place where you come to reset, reconnect, and remember how to be still.</image:caption>

<image:caption>On the drive from Phoenix to Flagstaff, consider a stop at Arcosanti—an experimental desert community and architectural wonder conceived by visionary Paolo Soleri. Just over an hour from the city, this otherworldly outpost is a fascinating blend of design, ecology, and philosophy. It’s a perfect place to stretch your legs, enjoy a casual lunch at their on-site café, and take in the striking architecture nestled into the high desert landscape. Be sure to visit the gallery, where you can purchase the ultimate Arizona souvenir: a hand-cast bronze or ceramic wind chime, still made on-site using Soleri’s original methods. It’s a quick detour that feels like stepping into a different world.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Arizona - FLAGSTAFF</image:title>
<image:caption>While you can head straight to Sedona, I highly recommend carving out time for a detour through Flagstaff. This charming high-elevation town is not only a great base for exploring Arizona’s iconic natural wonders—Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, and beyond—but also offers a surprising shift in landscape. As you leave the desert, the terrain transforms into rich alpine forests and mountain air—a side of Arizona most don’t expect. We spend quite a bit of time here for a welcome respite from Mexico City, and the town feels like a portal to 1920s Arizona, filled with Southwestern charm, historic architecture, and an outdoorsy spirit. Here are a few of our favorite local gems, but obviously, the best of Flagstaff is found on the trails. For best enjoyment, come in fall to see the Aspen foliage at its best.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Arizona - SEDONA</image:title>
<image:caption>Sedona is one of those magical places that you cannot compare to anywhere else—a surreal collision of natural beauty, spiritual energy, and artistic expression. Towering red rock formations rise dramatically from the earth, their colors shifting with the light, as if painted by the sky itself. Beyond the visual splendor, Sedona carries an undeniable energy—one that many attribute to its famed vortexes, believed to enhance healing, meditation, and inner clarity. But even if you're skeptical, the feeling is hard to ignore: a stillness, a sense of grounding, a subtle invitation to slow down and tune in. The town is layered with eclectic galleries, crystal shops, and wellness havens, yet it still retains a rugged, outdoor soul—perfect for days spent hiking, stargazing, or simply marveling at the landscape. Sedona isn’t just a destination; it’s a mood, a mirror, and a reminder of something greater.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Egypt - Sharm El-Sheikh</image:title>
<image:caption>For as long as I can remember, Egypt has lived in my imagination—a place of myth and wonder, always slightly out of reach. So when the trip finally came together, it felt only right that it began in a way that surprised me completely. We touched down in Sharm El Sheikh, often known for its sprawling resorts and packaged vacations—not exactly my usual scene. But our stay at the Four Seasons quietly challenged every preconceived notion I had. While I typically shy away from large hotels, this one felt more like a grand coastal estate than a resort. Winding paths led to quiet terraces, and despite its scale, we managed to find serene corners of solitude throughout the property. But the real draw here lies just offshore: some of the best diving in the world, hiding in plain sight beneath the surface of the Red Sea. Sharm el-Sheik is a haven for divers, and it's easy to see why. The reefs here are kaleidoscopic and shockingly alive—vibrant coral gardens teeming with life, schools of technicolor fish, and the kind of underwater drama that feels untouched by time. With the Four Seasons’ in-house diving school, stepping into this aquatic world was seamless. Whether you're a first-time diver or looking to log more advanced dives, there’s no better launchpad. If anything, our only regret was not staying longer. The Red Sea has a reputation for revealing itself slowly—with dive sites that feel undiscovered, and an underwater topography that promises adventure beyond the well-trodden. Like so much of Egypt, Sharm El Sheikh offers layers waiting to be explored—both above and below the surface.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Egypt - CAIRO</image:title>
<image:caption>Cairo is a city that doesn’t ease you in—it sweeps you up. A chaotic symphony of horns, heat, and motion, where ancient relics sit shoulder to shoulder with modern sprawl. Even with years of travel under my belt, I wasn’t prepared for its intensity. The traffic seems to operate on instinct rather than rules, with people and cars weaving through space like they’re part of some unspoken choreography. Everything is layered in a fine coat of dust—like a veil that belongs there, softening the sharp edges of a place that has witnessed millennia. We arrived during Ramadan, a time of deep spiritual reflection and daily rhythms unlike anything I’d experienced before. Until sunset, the city holds its breath—quiet in its restraint. But as the call to prayer echoes and the fast is broken, Cairo transforms. The streets erupt in joy. Vendors open their stalls, families gather over sprawling meals, and the scent of grilled meats, spices, and sweets lingers in the warm air. Wandering through the city at night felt like walking through a celebration—a communal exhale after a day of devotion. It was the kind of cultural immersion that feels accidental in the best way, like stumbling into something sacred and alive.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Egypt - THE NILE CRUISE</image:title>
<image:caption>While I typically avoid cruises like the plague, sailing down the Nile on a small, sleek vessel turned out to be one of the most magical experiences of the entire trip. It’s not just travel—it’s time travel, with the river itself as your guide. We boarded the Aqua, an elegant ship with only eight suites, which made the experience feel intimate and exclusive—as if we were modern-day pharaohs drifting through history in understated luxury. From the sundeck, the banks of the Nile unfolded like a living scroll: palms swaying, farmers tilling fields by hand, temples rising from the sand. It was as though we were gliding through the heart of a forgotten world. Each day delivered a new chapter of discovery. With our expert Egyptologist—part storyteller, part scholar—we explored wonders like Philae Temple, serenely situated on an island and dedicated to Isis, and the Valley of the Kings, where the tombs of great pharaohs are painted with celestial maps and secrets. At Kom Ombo, we wandered through a dual temple dedicated to both Sobek the crocodile god and Horus the falcon, marveling at ancient surgical tools etched in stone—evidence of medical advancements that rival our own.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Egypt - AL-MOUDIRA HOTEL</image:title>
<image:caption>I’ve always had a soft spot for hotels that transcend the idea of a place to sleep—those rare properties that merge design, culture, and soul into something entirely transportive. Al Moudira is one of them. Set on the West Bank of the Nile in Luxor, it feels less like a hotel and more like a mirage conjured by a dreamer. And in many ways, it is. Al Moudira is the vision—and obsession—of Zeina Aboukheir, an Italian-Lebanese photographer and jewelry designer whose eclectic sensibility and reverence for storytelling permeate every inch of the estate. Drawn to the stillness and majesty of Luxor’s desert fringe, Zeina worked with local artisans and architect Olivier Sednaoui to build her version of an Egyptian palace: a sprawling, golden-hued sanctuary that fuses Ottoman, North African, and Mediterranean influences. The result is a property that feels like it was always meant to be there—aged into the land rather than imposed upon it.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Egypt - The rooms are, in a word, otherworldly. Each of the 54 suites is a universe unto itself, no two alike. One may have a star-studded ceiling inspired by celestial tombs, another a freestanding marble tub surrounded by hand-painted murals. Antique Syrian mirrors, Mashrabiya woodwork, vaulted domes, and inlaid tile mosaics give every room a tactile richness that invites you to slow down and notice. Some suites open onto private courtyards fragrant with jasmine, while others feel like the inner sanctum of a sultan’s retreat—layered, storied, intimate. But Al Moudira is more than just a beautifully dressed shell—it’s alive. Beyond the bougainvillea-covered walls, you’ll find an organic, regenerative farm pulsing with purpose: ostriches, donkeys, chickens, and cows all coexisting within a system that sustains the hotel’s kitchens and values. It’s a nod to the rhythm of the land, where hospitality meets stewardship. The hotel also houses artisanal workshops, including a hand papermaking studio, where guests can witness ancient crafts in motion and try their hand at a centuries-old technique.</image:title>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Baja California - Baja California has long been a paradise for divers and ocean lovers, its underwater landscapes as rich and storied as the myths that surround them. But its allure now stretches far beyond the sea. This rugged coastline has quietly evolved into a haven for artists, designers, and seekers of inspiration and solitude. Creativity flows here as freely as mezcal, and the Pacific’s wild, sun-drenched beauty leaves an imprint that lingers long after you’ve gone. What called me back most recently, though, was the water — luminous, untamed, and very much alive. We swam with whale sharks and playful seals, gliding through glassy turquoise bays that felt entirely our own.</image:title>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Baja California - Nestled in the heart of Todos Santos’ old town, this boutique hotel is a love letter to history, craftsmanship, and slow living. Once home to a Spanish Countess in 1890, its walls still whisper stories of the past. From the moment we stepped inside, the thoughtful preservation was palpable—bullet holes peppered the mural at the entrance, an unintentional reminder of the town’s colorful past, while each room bore the name of a local convent. The air was thick with a sense of place, of stories untold. Hand-painted murals, sun-drenched courtyards, and velvet-draped speakeasies unfold like the pages of an artist’s sketchbook. Guests can opt to stay in the historic wing, where the digital realm seems to fade away, in cozy villas, or ground-level chambers featuring cenote-style azure pools.</image:title>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Baja California - FOOD & BEVERAGE</image:title>
<image:caption>In a nod to its dual heritage, the hotel’s culinary program seamlessly marries British classics with the bold, fresh flavors of Baja’s seafood. It was the perfect setting for our first Friendsgiving in Mexico—a celebration of good food, deep conversations, and a landscape that felt both grounding and surreal. At the hotel’s signature restaurant, 1890, the menu was an ode to decadence recreating American classics in their own form to make our band of misfits feel right at home. As the balmy evening settled in, La Copa, the speakeasy-style bar, came alive. A band played timeless Mexican classics, their melodies weaving effortlessly into the night. Sumptuous velvet chairs invited us to linger, our only movement a slow sip of a mezcal cocktail, a quiet tap of the foot to the rhythm of the music.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This hotel is more than a place to rest—it’s a masterclass in how to make guests feel cherished. Upon arrival, we were gifted a pre-packed beach bag and a handwritten note, an invitation to surrender to the ocean. After long, sun-drenched days along the Baja coast, we returned to a meticulous turn-down service, complete with an eye mask and slippers that felt akin to walking on a cloud. Late afternoons by the pool became a ritual. The golden light softened, the palm trees swayed gently, and an array of hand-selected skincare products allowed us to fully indulge in the sun’s embrace.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - Conversations with Friends: Carolyn Brown - CITY NOTES</image:title>
<image:caption>How would you describe Boulder to someone who’s never been? Boulder is a mountain town but it’s so much more than that. it’s a portal into a slower, more connected way of living. It has an energy that’s equal parts crunchy and curious with the kindest, most down to earth people. What makes it feel meaningful to you, either now or over time? After living there for almost three years, it still feels like a mind-body-soul reset. It’s the place I return to again and again for my nature fix and to remember what it means to feel grounded and surrounded by salt of the earth people. What three words capture its essence? Expansive. Rooted. Nourishing. When is the best time of year to visit, and why? Late spring into early summer, around June and early july is my favorite. The wildflowers bloom, farmers markets explode with color, and you can jump into the creeks (chilly from snow melt!) after long sunny hikes. Where would you stay for a dream weekend? A mountain chic airbnb with huge windows and 360 views up Sunshine Canyon.</image:caption>

<image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - The Dolomites, Valle de Guadalupe, & Paradero - As a reluctant bride, choosing a destination for my bachelorette was no easy feat. I wanted to surprise and delight—somewhere that felt celebratory yet grounded, design-forward yet authentic. With 19 of my favorite people in tow, I knew it had to be in Mexico—as a self-proclaimed cultural ambassador of the country—and, naturally, wine country felt right. Valle de Guadalupe offered everything I love: bold flavors, intimate design, and a touch of wildness. Its sculptural architecture and soft desert palette framed sweeping vineyard views—modern yet soulful, perfectly Baja. The spa was exceptional—think indigenous-inspired treatments and open-air tranquility—and we loved the property’s own restaurant and vineyard, which we explored on our last day over lazy pours and warm sunsets. <image:caption>This summer was all about sidestepping the crush and savoring Italy’s (slightly) off-the-beaten path gems. For our final stop, we pointed the car north—pausing in Treviso, that elegant little enclave outside Venice—to visit a friend before threading into the Dolomites. If you can handle the curves, driving is the only way to arrive: every turn frames a new cathedral of limestone, every valley opens like a stage set. <image:title>POSTCARDS LIBRARY - The Dolomites, Valle de Guadalupe, & Paradero - ANCORA CORTINA</image:title>
<image:caption>We kicked off our trip with Cortina, the soon-to-be backdrop for the 2026 Olympics. We checked into the recently opened, Ancora Cortina, a newly remodeled cozy enclave of thirty-five rooms tucked into the center of town. Under the leadership of the Borgo Egnazia team, I knew it would not disappoint. Since they were still technically opening, we were the few if only lucky guests to enjoy the fruits of the hotel. The team quickly became like family. We got to know everyone at the hotel - the lead chef, the GM, our server, the bartender - the team was pure excellence. Each day there was a familiarity there that made it feel like a chic Alpine hideaway with a whole group of friends. The hotel is intimate, but sophisticated. Furs draped across barends and lighting that makes you want to lavish in apres forever more. It is exactly what you want no matter the time of year with a little rock and roll thrown in - sexy messages left on our mirror at turn down and the moodiest bedside tables that make you never want to leave bed. Located just off the mountain, you wake up with the bells of the city and views of the surrounding. Needless to say, we will be returning.</image:caption>
